11 December–It may not be a very important day at Osho Meditation Resort in Pune because the officials of the Resort claim to celebrate 365 days, as they insist that it is a Resort, not a Commune or the Ashram. A resort is justified to have a monsoon festival, Christmas, and a new year party–but not the birthday celebration of the enlightened mystic. But to all other Osho meditation centers and Osho lovers living anywhere on the planet, it is a very very important day to celebrate. Why?
Addressing his people at Gautama the Buddha Auditorium in Pune on one of his birthday celebrations, Osho himself gave the answer about this day: “I was thinking what should I give to you today? Because this is my birthday, I was incarnated into this body on this day. This is the day I saw for the first time the green of the trees and the blue of the skies. This was the day I for the first time opened my eyes and saw God all around. Of course, the word ‘God’ didn’t exist at that moment, but what I saw was God. I was thinking what should I give to you today?” Then I remembered a saying of Buddha: sabba danam dhamma danana jnati — the gift of truth excels all other gifts. And my truth is love.
In love you disappear, your mind disappears. In love, you come to utter relaxation. That’s my teaching to you, I teach love. And there is nothing higher than love.”
The coming 11 December, bubbling with this love energy enkindled by Osho himself, hundreds of Osho lovers plan to assemble in Pune on this day, to meditate and celebrate together, as there is no real celebration without meditation. First meditation and then the natural celebration follows spontaneously.
Along with other friends from Pune and Mumbai, I will be welcoming you to come and meditate together on Osho’s 90th birthday ( and we will inform you about the venue as soon as possible, along with contact information) in Pune.
